Witryna10 wrz 2024 · If a molecule has a chiral center, that means the molecule comes in at least two kinds of isomers called stereoisomers. Two isomers have a molecular formula that is the same, but the structures and arrangements of the two molecules are different. In chemistry, a molecule or ion is called chiral if it cannot be superposed on its mirror image by any combination of rotations, translations, and some conformational changes. This geometric property is called chirality (/kaɪˈrælɪti/). The terms are derived from Ancient Greek χείρ (cheir) 'hand'; which is the canonical example of an object with this property.
